<File Western District Board>

Badin, N.C. Feb. 1, 1918.

Hon. Thomas Walter Bickett,
Governor of North Carolina,
Raleigh, N.C.

My dear Governor Bickett:

Am taking the liberty to enclose you copy of letter written the District Exemption Board at Statesville concerning our physician in charge, Dr. William T. Rainey, and we trust you may see your way clear to write the board a letter concerning this young gentlemen, whose services we are in so much need of, both for the plant and our growing Town of Badin with which he has been identified from the start. He is the sole physician in charge of the Badin hospital and we think we have most excellent grounds in asking for his exemption from military services.

In view of this fact we think the needs for him here are really greater. He is thoroughly broken into this work and has grown up with it, having been at it constantly for about the past two years.

Thanking you for any consideration you can give to this case and with kindest personal regards,

Respectfully yours,

Stuart B. Marshall
GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT.
