February 12, 1918.

Capt. T. C. Tilghman,
Co. M. 322nd Infantry,
Camp Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

My dear Sir:-

I desire to endorse the application for discharge of Mr. Seth M. Swan of your company. Mr. Swan is a married man with children and I do not think that he ought to be kept in the army when there are plenty of single men in his county who can take his place. In making this endorsement I do not desire in any way to interfere with the very proper prerogatives of the military authorities, but this case is a most distressing one and I earnestly trust that you will approve his application.

Respectfully uours,

[unsigned]
