STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA

GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

RALEIGH

October 22nd, 1918.

Provost Marshal General,

Washington, D.C.

My dear Sir:-

I beg to submit a communication just recived from the Chairman of the Local Board of Gaston County. This Chairman is a most intelligent and patriotic man and it seems that somebody has put something over on the authorities in camp with respect to the case of Worth C. Carpenter. I am profoundly convinced that this is a case where the furlough ought to be cancelled at once, and the man ordered returned to camp, and I trust that your office will take necessary steps to have it done.

Very truly yours,

(Signed) T. W. Bickett,

GOVERNOR.

B-G.
