BE IT RESOLVED by the committee of ten appointed by the mass meeting recently held in the City of Asheville, for the purpose of aiding in the settlement between the Asheville Light and Power Company and its employees,

THAT WHEREAS, at the time of the settlement between said Company and its employees, a part of the proposition of settlement was that the men who had been in the employ of the company for one year should receive 20¢ per house; and,

WHEREAS, it now appears that Col. R. E. Johnson, President of the Company, understood that the price offered said one year men was to be 19¢ per hour, and that a discrepancy has arisen between the figures as understood by said president and those of the committee as given to the full committee by the sub-committee and by Governor Craig; and,

WHEREAS, it is impossible now to determine how such discrepancy arose, but that it does appear that the full committee in good faith understood the figures to be 20¢ per hour for such one year men, and in good faith so understanding said figures submitted the same to the street car employees for their acceptance or rejection, and that it further appears that said street car employees after consideration of the proposition submitted to them, including the pay of one year men at 20¢ per hour, in good faith accepted such proposition and resumed their duties in good faith upon such understanding.

NOW, THEREFORE, it is the sense of this committee, under all the circumstances of the case, that said figures, to-wit: 20¢ per hour for said one year men should be retained as they were so presented by this committee to said street car employees and accepted by them at the time above mentioned.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to said company and to Governor Locke Craig, at Raleigh, North Carolina.
