Biographical Description

Peter Collinson (1694-1768) was an English botanist who was a patron for many North American natural scientists. In addition, he was well-known for his collection of North American seeds and plants. In 1759, Arthur Dobbs wrote to him about a plant his called the "Catch Fly Sensitive," which was the first description of the Venus Flytrap.
