Sir,

A Severe fit of Illness I had after proroguing our Assembly, and my removal here after my Recovery prevented my writing to you until I had arrived here; This is principally to inclose to you Copies of Letters sent to me by Direction of Lord Halifax to endeavour to rescue a young Man Samuel Taylor who had been in a Manner kidnapped by one Turton a Trader here, & iniquitously sold here; I have followed the Sale of him through several hands and find his Master has quit this Province, and had settled at Great Pedee in your Province near Catfish Creek, so that I can proceed no farther, as you will find by the Memorandum after the Letters, and therefore must beg of your Excellency to endeavour to find out whether his Master be still there or removed. I have a Letter from the Mother directed to the young Man, but shall keep it until I know whether he can be found. I have sent off 3 Companies, all we had on foot which are made up 100 each to join Brigr. Forbes, but have not any News from the Northward. I am with great Regard
