I take the opportunity of a Sloop going off to Philadelphia to acknowlege yr last favour with the Seeds and have Inclosed a memdm of Some Seeds I shall want for my Garden and in it a Pistole to lay out in what manner you please to send such a quantity of each as it will bring. I cant at present send you any thing from hence, Mr Powel being at NewBern as I have no Gardner the great Hurricane we had here the 22d. of Septr. which has broke in and Carryd away our Eastern Bank at the <Hall> over and has given us a new Channel has demolished my Garden so that I shall have it all to do over again next Spring it rose near 6 feet higher than ever Known, it carried away all our Wharfs and drove all our vessels here on shore. I have sent a Letter from Mr Powell to Mr Wakely to advertize my Lands in the back Country for sale to be put into your news Paper if he should not be in Philadelphia, I desire that you would take it from the Captain and open the letter and print the Advertisemts. We have made Peace with the Cherokees and expect daily to hear that it is ratified—
