Know all men by these presents that we Thomas Clarke William Gray & Zedekiah Stone—are held and firmly Bound unto Richard Caswell Esqr. Governor & his Successors—in the sum of Six hundred pounds—Proclamation Money to the payment whereof well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves (our and each of our) Heirs Execrs. Administrators Jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our Seals and Dated this fourteenth Day of August 1777—

The condition of the above Obligation is such that whereas an act has pass'd the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina entiteled an Act for declaring what crimes and practices against the State shall be Treason, and what shall be Misprison of Treason, and providing punishmts. adaquate to Crimes of both Classes, and for preventing the danger which may arise from persons disaffected to the state, wherein among other things, it is enacted, that certain persons under particular descriptions, may be cited to appear at the next County Court, & required to take an Oath recited in the said act, and also, that any Justice of the peace, may summon any person residing in the County, to which his Jurisdiction extends, to take the above mentioned Oath, and upon refusal, the said Court is impower'd to order such persons to depart the SixtyState within Sixty Days, and in the mean time to give Security for their so doing, and whereas the above bound Thomas Clarke—has been cited agreeable to the above mentioned act, to appear & take the said Oath which he had refused to do; and the Court hath therefore ordered the said Thomas Clarke—to depart the said State, now therefore if the said Thomas Clarke—shall depart this State, within Sixty days from the Date hereof, then the above Obligation to be Void else to remain in full force and Virtue
