Mr. J. E. S. Thorpe,
Badin, N.C.

My dear Mr. Thorpe:-

I am in receipt of a letter from R. McAndrews, a negro who has been supervising the welfare work among the negroes at Badin, in which he encloses me a letter from a party in Badin warning him that it will be dangerous for him (Andrews) to return to Badin even to get his things. I think it my duty to call this matter to your attention to the end that you may give strict orders to the police authorities that if this man should return to Badin he is not to be molested in any way. I know that you will be glad to do this.

Wishing you and yours a most happy New Year, I beg to remain,

Sincerely yours,

[unsigned]
