Mr. H. W. Plummer,
Vice-Pres’t & Gen’l Mgr.,
Asheville Power & Light Co.
Asheville, N.C.
Dear Mr. Plummer;
We enclose herewith copy of a letter to Col. Johnson, which is being mailed to-day.
The committee, as you know, has given much time to the consideration of this proposition, and the members feel that we are asking a settlement of this unfortunate misunderstanding upon fair and equitable terms to all concerned, in which none of the parties interested sacrifice any principle whatever, and but little monetary consideration, and that the people of Asheville have a moral right to insist that the misunderstanding ought to be settled upon these terms. Of course we realize that there are certain legal rights that would justify either party before the law to demand the pound of flesh, though the public may suffer thereby.
It will indeed be unfortunate if this honest misunderstanding between your company and this committee should result in open strife between your company and its employes.
Yours very sincerely,
(Signed) Geo S Powell
Chair
