On the 26th Day of October 1842—
Personally appeared Hezekiah West before the under signed a justice of the peace in & for the said County & he the said Hezekiah West being Duly sworn in Due form of Law—Deposeth & Saith that he was personally aquainted with John B. Murray Decd of said county from the year 1810 unto the Day of his Death which Death as this Deponant thinks & beleives, took place in or about the year of our Lord 1828—& that he had frequently Lodged at the Dwelling house of said Murray & Conversd with him on the subject of Revolutionary War & that he the said Murray once told this Deponant that he was in the Battle fought between the Brittish & the american State troops at Oringeburg in S.C. & was under the Command of & this Deponent further states that he was Marched into Oringeburg some short time after the sad Battle had been fought, the Brittish haveing evacuated that place & from the Description which said Murray gave of that place & some signs or marke of the said Battle ground which this Deponant saw at that place he verily Beleives that the said John B. Murray was in the Battle & undr the Command of General Sumpter
