NORTH CAROLINA
HEALTH OFFICERS' ASSOCIATION
OFFICE OF VICE-PRESIDENT
CLINTON, N.C., Nov 26 - 1912
To whom it may concern:
This is to certify that on Nov. 25th 1912 I was called to the county jail to examine one John Simpson (col) just brought to the jail from the county convict camp 20 miles away. I found him to be suffering from consumption in the advanced stage in the left lung. His condition was otherwise bad in keeping with the disease. His throat and vocal cords are covered with the deposit and he could scarcely speak above a whisper. Since the camp has been in the extreme western part of the county the medical care has been in the hands of Dr. T. C. Bullock of Autryville for reasons of economy. Dr. Bullock advised me that he had advanced tubercular disease on the 1st of the present month, and I advised his being removed from the camp.
