At a Court held this Day for the trial of a Negroe fellow named Cato the property of Isaac Jones of this County Planter.

Present John Rutherfurd, Griffith Jones & Thomas Turnbull Esqrs. Messrs. Thomas Bryan John Brown, Donald McKichen and Evan Ellis freeholders & Masters of Slaves.

The said Negroe fellow ^Cato^ was found Guilty of Death for having made an Attempt to Murder Margaret Thomson & Stabing her with a knife to the Great Danger of her Life.

The said Negroe fellow being appraised, was Valued at fifty three pounds six shillings & Eight pence proclamation Money & In order to Enable the said Isaac Jones to Recover the said Money agreeable to the Laws of this province, the Clerk was ordered to make out a Certificate of the same
