Arthur Dobbs Esqr. Governor of North Carolina.

George the Third by the grace of God of Great Britain France & Ireland King Defender of the Faith & so forth To Our Trusty & Welbeloved Arthur Dobbs Esqr. Greeting Whereas Our late Royal Grandfather of blessed Memory did by his Letters Patent under the Great Seal of Great Britain bearing date at Westminster the 23d. day of Febry. in the 26th. year of his Reign Constitute and appoint you the said Arthur Dobbs Captn. Genl. & Governor in Chief in & Over our Province of North Carolina in America during his late Majys. Will & pleasure, as by the said recited Letters Patent relation being thereunto had may more fully & at large appear Now Know You that We have revoked & determined & by these presents do revoke & determine the said recited Letters patent, and every clause article & thing therein contained And further know You that We reposing especial Trust & confidence in the prudence, Courage & Loyalty of you the said Arthur Dobbs of Our especial Grace certain knowledge & mere Motion Have thought fit to constitute & appoint, and by these presents Do Constitute and Appoint You the said Arthur Dobbs to be Our Captn. Genl. & Governor in Chief in & over Our province of North Carolina in America (Have the several usual Clauses Articles &c, are inserted Vide page 127 Governor Pinfolds Commissn.) And We do hereby declare Ordain & appoint that you the said Arthur Dobbs shall & may hold execute & Enjoy the Office & place of Our Captn. Genl. & Governor in Chief of Our said province & Territory of North Carolina with all its rights Members & appurtenances whatsoever together with all and Singular the powers & Authorities hereby granted unto you for & during Our Will & pleasure In Witness whereof We have caused these Our Letters to be made patent, Witness Our Self at Westminster the 4th. day of April in the First year of Our Reign
