Whitehall

May 10th. 1763.

To Arthur Dobbs Esqr. Governor of North Carolina

Sir,

Bundle E.60.71

59.

We have receiv'd your Letters to Us of the 23d of Febry and 7th of March last, and also a Duplicate of that of the 30th. of April 1762, with the Laws, Journals of Council & Assembly, & other Papers referr'd to in them.

The principal Objects of Consideration contain'd in these Letters are the different Opinions concerning the Seat of Government, the boundary Line between the two Provinces, and the mode of appointing Treasurers.

With respect to the two first of these, they are Questions so interesting and closely connected with the Consideration of whatever Arrangements may be proper to be made, in respect to the Southern Colonies in consequence of the Acquisition of Florida, that it wou'd, in Our Judgement, be improper to enter into a discussion of them at this time; & we hope that the necessity of any immediate determination upon the Boundary Line will be removed by the Instruction which has already been sent to you and to the Governor of South Carolina for establishing a temporary line of Jurisdiction.

Ent. B. fol. 33d. As to the Mode of appointing Treasurers, you have already receiv'd the Sentiments & Directions of this Board upon that point fully express'd in their Lordships Letter to you of the 1st. of August 1759, in which Opinion We do concurr, & to which We have nothing to add. We are,

Sir, &c.
