Whereas by an Act passed in the last Session of our Parliamt. for raising a certain Sum of Money by Loans or Exchequer Bills for the Service of the Year 1763, and for further appropriating the Supplies granted in that Session of Parliament. It was enacted that out of all or any the Aids or Supplies thereby provided, there should and might be issued and applied any Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding £133,333.6.8 upon Accot. to enable us to give a proper Compensation to the respective provinces in North America for the expences incurred by them in the levying Cloathing and pay of the Troops raised by the same, according as the Active Vigouer and Strenuous efforts of the respective provinces should be thought by Us to Merit, And Whereas we have taken into Our Royal Consideration the Cases of the said provinces respecting the expences so incurred by them which have been laid before Us by the Commrs. of Our Treasury and by their Advice have resolved that the said full sum of £133,333.6.8 shall be applied for the giving such Compensation to the said Provinces for their said expences And Whereas it appears that the Recruits raised in the province of North Carolina were raised at the expence of Our Govr. of the said province We have thought and determined that the Expences of Our said Governor have Merited the Sum of £240, part of the Sum of £133,333.6.8 as a proper Compensation for the expences incurred by the said Governor in the Services aforementd. Our Will and pleasure is, And We do hereby direct Authorise and Command that out of the Sum of £133,333.6s.8d. which hath been Imprested to you for this Service you do pay into the hands of the Agent for Our said province of North Carolina to be by him paid over unto Our said Govr. the sum of £240 without deduction and without Accot. for the proper Compensation to the said Governor for the Expences incurred in the recruiting Service aforesaid And this shall be as well to you for making such payment as to Our Auditors and all others concerned in passing your Accounts for Allowing the same thereupon a Sufficient Warrant, Given at Our Court at St. James's this 21st day of Sept. 1764, In the 4th. year of Our Reign.
