To His Excellency Arthur Dobbs Esquire His Majestie's Captain General Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the Province of North Carolina

The Petition of Robert Lenox

Humbly Sheweth

That at the Superior Court held at Edenton in November 1761 Judgment was given against your ^petitioner^ at the Suit of John Campbell In an Action of Trespass for the Sum of £1333.6.8 Proclamation Money, That Execution on the said Judgment was respited at your Petitioner's prayer until May Court last in order that your Petitioner might appeal from the said Judgment And that at may Court aforesaid your Petitioner obtained a further Respite of the said Execution to prosecute his said Appeal before your Excellency in Council That your Petitioner is advised that the said Judgment by the Laws of this Province ought to have been given for your sd. Petitioner and not for the said John Campbell as above mentioned

Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays your Excellency to grant unto your Petitioner His Majesties most gracious Writ usual in such Case in order that our Petitioner may be enabled to prosecute his said Appeal before your Excellency in Council at such time and place as our Excellency shall please to direct and appoint

And your Petitioner is in Duty bound shall pray &c.

Brunswick 7. June 1762 Agreeable to the Prayer of the within Petitioner It is hereby ordered that the usual Wait issue at the Suit of Robt. Lenox Appellant against John Campbell Appellee returnably before me in Council at Wilmington on the fifteenth day of October next—(the said Robert Lenox giving Bond with sufficient Security in five hundred pounds lawful Money of Great Britain to pay and satisfy all Costs and Charges which shall or may be awarded against him in Case the said Robert Lenox shall not prosecute his said Appeal with Effect.)
