Tyrrell County

17th. July 1777.} Ss.

Ed Stephen Harrison was brought before us Justices assigned to keep the Peace in said County and being duly sworn upon the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God Deposeth and sayeth that about Three Weeks ago, James Harrison the son of James Swore this Deponent into the Society & gave him the first Token & Word in Old Thomas Harrison's Peach Orchard & that about a Week afterwards Daniel Leggett swore this Deponent a second Oath at Jonathan Davises Wheat Reaping & gave him the Second Sign & Word which Oath was to stand by the Constitution stand up for the Protestant Religion & keep out Popery And further this Deponent sayeth not
