My dear Gov. Craig.

I see by the papers that their is a strong demand being made upon you for state convicts for the electric railway between Andrews & Hayesville. I sincerely hope that the urgentcy of their demand will not prevent an adequate number of convicts being detailed to the Hickory Nut Gap road & to Madison County, Fifty to sixty for each.

The Hickory Nut Gap people have raised the $5000 that I asked for to supplement the work of the convicts & the Madison County people have all the money necessary. I sincerely hope that the convicts can be detailed for these roads at the meeting of the Prison Board, July 5.

Randolph County is anxious to secure some of the Federal Money for road work with the conditions as they are regarding its expenditure.

I sincerely hope that your Asheville trip has greatly improved your health.

I hope to see you on Friday July 11, at the Board meeting.

Yours sincerely

Joseph Hyde Pratt
