Hon. T. W. Bicket,
Raleigh, N.C.

Dear Governor Bickett:-

This letter will introduce to you Mr. L. P. Curry, a representative of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency.

At the instance of certain representative citizens of our community Mr. Curry is sent here to investigate the assault that was made upon my sister Mrs. A. A. Riddle, on the evening of July 17th, at her home near Burlington.

With your approval Mr. Curry would like to see and interview the three negroes, Lee, Veasey and Troxler, who are being held at the State Penitentiary. If you will authorize the proper officials to permit Mr. Curry to see them it will be greatly appreciated.

With kindest personal regards, I am,

Very truly yours,

J. Dolph Long
