11th. August 1832

William Hargrove Searcey came into open court and made oath that he commanded the Company as mentioned in the within declaration of Wm. Taburn Senr. to the Raft Swamp, that said Taburn was a private in his Company as he has stated & that I left the encampment by leave before the men were discharged as he has stated and also that I let said William Taburn have my rifle & accoutrements upon leaving the detachment—Thus far I certify and no further—subscribed & sworn to in open Court

And the Court now sitting consisting of William M. Sneed Richard Bullock & Thomas H. Willie, do hereby certify that William H Searcey the affiant to the foregoing affidavit is a citizen of Granville County; and we feel well assured that the facts set forth therin are just and Free, and that his said statment is entitled to credit

I Stephen K Sneed Clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for the County of Granville and State of North Carolina do hereby Certify that the foregoing contains the original proceedings of said Court in the matter of the application of William Taburn Senr for a pension.
