South Carolina Pickens District.

On this 11th day of March 1833 Personally appeared in open Court before the Court of Pickens now sitting William Guest resident of State of South Carolina in the District of Pickens aged 70 years the 30th Decr. past who being first duly sworn according to Law doth on his Oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benifit of the Act of Congress passed 7th. June 1832

That he entered the Service of the United States under the following officers and service as herein Stated (Viz)

In June 17575 he enlisted in the Militia under Capt. Elijah Isaacs for three months in Col. Benjamin Clevelands Regiment rendavoused on the Yadkin River Wilks County North Carolina where they remained in guarding the fort for the turn of service does not recollect the name of the Fort. Was discharged at said Fort by the Captain. In March 1779 enlisted under Capt. Moses Guest in a company of Mounted Infantry in the Regiment before mentioned and continued under said Captain untill October 1781 rendavoused at Wilks Court House was reviewed by Col. Cleveland. During this Service we were ginerally on Scouting parties were marched to Wattauga twice and near to Long Islands of Holsten and after returning from said place went in pursuit Col. Moore who commanded the Tories at Ramsours Mill from thence went in pursuit of Col. Briant who commanded the Tories but hearing he had been defeated by Genl. Sumter we returned to Wilks in June from June untill October we were employed in breaking up Tory camps in different parts of the Country we were then Marched under Col. Cleveland to Kings Mountain defeated Col. Ferguson were marched as a guard in taking the Prisoners to Moravia Town from thence were marched back to wilks from this I was sent by order to Col. Cleveland after Joseph Reid who was wounded at Kings Mountain and left at Doct. Dobsons Burk County with orders to bring him to Wilks and wait on him untill he recovered from his wounds about the Last of May Joined the company again in Wilks was marched over the Mountains to Holsten River, E. Tenessee in pursuit of Robbers and Tories which had fled from Moores defeat returned back to Wilks then was Marched to the head of Catawba where we remained three or four weeks, waiting for supplies when we were discharged in October 1781—

That he has no documentary evidence and that he knows of no Person whose Testimony he can procure except the affidafit of Moses Guest and Thompson Epperson which is hereunto annexed who can Testify to his Service he hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a Pension or annuity except the Present and declares that his name is not on the Pension Roll of any State the agency of any State
