[circa 29 December 1914]

Hon. W. J. Bryan,
Secretary of State,
Washington, D.C.

The placing of resinous products and turpentine (spirit oil) by Great Britain on the list of absolute contraband of war works a great hardship on a large portion of North Carolina. Please use your best efforts with the British ambassador to have his government rescind its action, which is a great blow to one of North Carolina's leading industries.

LOCKE CRAIG,
Governor.
