Dear Cousin

I assure you it gives me no small concern to be under a necessity of teazing you again & that at a time when I know you have other matters to take up your attention, but the overseer came down last night & is desirous of seeing you tho I do not know that he has any particular business, he seems very much to desire to keep all the hands & says if there was ten more he has ground enough for them but dare say he will not mention any thing about it to you as he does not seem to expect to have them, I am afraid Callum will plague you a little he would not rest till I promisd to let you know that one of the girls that are hired out is his wife, & entreats very hard that she may be sufferd to stay on the plantation I never met with such a pleader, I told him I did not imagine it would be to any purpose to trouble you about it but he insisted upon it that if you knew she was his wife you would let her stay, as it would prevent his ever running about from the plantation so that he seems to think himself a person of the utmost consequence I hope to have the pleasure to hear you are all well & have sent a hind quarter of Venison which I beg your acceptance off I was in great hopes of having the pleasure of seeing you before christmas but do not now expect it, I have some thoughts of going to see Billy to day & shall return tomorrow afternoon, if there should be any Rum should esteem it a particular favour if you will send it by this oppertunity, Please to present my Love to all the Ladies am dr Cousin

ever most affy yours—
