Certificate of a Tryal of a Negro Slave named Cuff—

Belonging to the Estate of Benjamin Ward deceasd—taken on Suspicion of poisoning his Late Master—

The Sheriff Returnd that he had Summoned the Justices & freeholders to Sitt on Tryal.

The Court after Strictly Examining the Sev[eral] Evidences & Maturely Considering the facts are of Oppinion that the said Negro Cuff is Guilty—and on said Verdict award Execution.

Orderd, That the said Negro Cuff Return to the prison and from thence to the place of Execution There to be hangd by the Neck on Saturday next between the hours of 2 & 3 Clock. until he is dead—Orderd the Sheriff put said Sentence into Execution accordingly—And the said Court Certifies That they Value said Negro at Sixty Pounds proc.
