Biographical Description

Peter Evans Hines was born in Warren County, North Carolina on July 28, 1828. Hines was a physician and Confederate veteran who served as president of the Wake County Medical Society (1876-1895), president of the Raleigh Academy of Medicine, president of the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners (1878-1884), and as superintendent of health in Wake County (1894-1908). He died in Raleigh (Wake County), North Carolina on August 14, 1908.
