Thaddeus Dillard Bryson was born in Haywood County (formerly Jackson County), North Carolina on February 13, 1829. Bryson was a legislator, Confederate veteran, and farmer who was appointed to serve as a member of the board of directors for the Western North Carolina Railroad in 1879. He died in Bryson City (Swain County) on January 2, 1890.
