Biographical Description

Isaac, an African American man residing in Brunswick County, North Carolina, was enslaved by Sarah Dupree. In March 1777 Isaac and four other enslaved men murdered enslaver Henry Williams. The motive for the crime was not recorded. The court found Issac and the others guilty and sentenced Isaac to be burnt alive. Dupree later received compensation for Isaac's death.
