Francis Fontaine was born in Virginia in about 1721. A carpenter in New Bern, North Carolina, Fontaine served on a coroner's jury which investigated Joseph and Lydia Bembridge's deaths. Fontaine later moved to Dobbs County, North Carolina and Charleston Precinct, South Carolina, where he died in 1783.
