Biographical Description

John Brown was a possibly enslaved African American man. Labeled a runaway, Brown was captured and jailed in 1768 in Beaufort County, North Carolina. The local court found Brown guilty of an unspecified felony and consequently executed him in October 1768. John Brown's origin, or any other details regarding his case, have not been located.
