Biographical Description

Joseph Henley was born in Pasquotank County, North Carolina on December 7, 1747. A Quaker, he was appointed to appear before the North Carolina General Assembly to defend a petition advocating for the abolition of slavery in 1782. He died in Pasquotank in about February 1795.
