Henry Whitesell was born Guilford County, North Carolina in about 1761. During the American Revolution Whitesell served as a captain in the Guilford County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia from 1776 to 1781. The Battle of Whitesell's Mill occurred on his property in March 1781. He died in Clinton County, Indiana on May 8, 1842.
