Biographical Description

William Tisdale (1734-c1796) was a politician and silversmith in New Bern. He frequently served the judge of the admiralty court of the port of New Bern and also engraved the state seal of North Carolina. Judge Tisdale may have been involved in taking a statement from William Brimage about his involvement in the Gourd Patch Conspiracy after he was captured in August 1777.
