Biographical Description

John Seals was a resident of Bertie County who worked as an overseer in 1774 and later served as a private in the 7th North Carolina Regiment of the Continental Army in 1777.  In 1778 he signed an oath swearing his allegiance to the State of North Carolina and promised to report any treasonous conspiracies that might threaten North Carolina's independence.
