Biographical Description

Nathaniel Allen (c1755-1805) was a resident of Chowan County. In 1778 he signed an oath swearing his allegiance to the State of North Carolina and promised to report any treasonous conspiracies that might threaten North Carolina's independence. He represented Chowan at the state Constitutional Convention in 1788 and later in both the North Carolina Council of State and General Assembly.
