Biographical Description

Thomas Bacchus (d. 1814) was a resident of Chowan County. In 1778 he signed an oath swearing his allegiance to the State of North Carolina and promised to report any treasonous conspiracies that might threaten North Carolina's independence. Later he continued to support the cause for independence and received compensation from the state for services rendered to the American military.
