Biographical Description

Britton Savage was a resident of Martin County. In September 1777 he and his brother were listed as prisoners being held at the Edenton District Court of Oyer and Terminer, likely in relation to having been involved in the Gourd Patch Conspiracy. Any other documents linking him to the conspiracy have not been located. Later in 1782 he supported the cause of American independence and received compensation from the State of North Carolina for services rendered.
