Allen, William James

Biographical Description

William James Allen was born in Orange County, North Carolina, on August 22, 1882. Allen moved to North Wilkesboro (Wilkes County) in 1907. He worked as a furniture store clerk and as manager for Miller Grocery Co. In 1921, he purchased the town’s movie theater, which he renamed the Allen Theatre. Allen died in North Wilkesboro on October 29, 1950.
