Nathaniel Harrison Walker was born in Buncombe County on November 15, 1886. Walker spent most of his life in Black Mountain, where he worked as a telegraph operator. He served in the U.S. Army from 1917 to 1919 but did not see overseas service. Walker appears to have lost his job during the Great Depression and struggled financially for the rest of his life. He died intestate on October 16, 1941.
