Biographical Description

John Bailey was born in about 1756. A resident of Brunswick County, Virginia, he served in the Virginia Militia from 1775 to August 1776 as an ensign. He enlisted as a private in the Virginia Line of the Continental Army in 1776 and served two further tours as a captain and adjutant. After the war he worked as a hatter. He died in Bath County, Kentucky in about July 1826.
