Curtis Hooks Brogden was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, on November 6, 1816. Brogden was a governor of the state of North Carolina from 1874 to 1877 and a member of Congress from 1877 to 1879. He died in Goldsboro (Wayne County), North Carolina on January 5, 1901.
