Bennett, James

Biographical Description

James Bennett was one of the leading men of the Chowanoke Indian Nation by the 1730s. In that role he, along with several other leaders of the nation, sold plots of the nation's land to European colonists in present-day Chowan County, North Carolina. He died sometime after 1770.
