Biographical Description

James Lockhart was a resident of Johnston County, North Carolina. A local justice of the peace, Lockhart presided over the freeholders court, which heard cases involving enslaved people. Lockhart also represented Johnston in the North Carolina General Assembly in 1780. He died in Johnston in about 1800.
