Allen Sugg was born in Beaufort County, North Carolina sometime prior to 1758. Following Abraham Tyson's death, Sugg became a guardian to Tyson's son Joel and helped administer the estate while Joel was still a minor. Sugg hired out an enslaved boy named Jim Bowser to Jehu Tyson and in January 1778 Jehu Tison murdered Bowser after Bowser attempted to run away. Though not recorded, Jehu Tison likely had to compensate Sugg for Bowser's death. Any further records regarding this individual have not been located.
