Biographical Description

Edward Salter was a resident of Pitt County, North Carolina. A member of the Pitt Committee of Safety, Salter also served in several sittings of the North Carolina Provincial Congress. In 1775 he sent word of an attempted uprising amongst the enslaved people of Beaufort and Pitt Counties. Salter also served as a lieutenant colonel in the Pitt County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia. He died sometime after 1783.
