Biographical Description

Prince, an African American man residing in Johnston County, North Carolina, was enslaved to Elizabeth Durham. In 1779 Prince testified during a trial in which several enslaved people were accused of witchcraft. Prince testified that Jacob, a Black man enslaved by Nicholas Farmer, had told him that he intended to use a witch doctor to force Farmer to sell him to Durham. Any further information regarding this individual has not been located.
