Biographical Description

Jesse Tiner was a resident of Johnston County, North Carolina. Tiner served in the 1st North Carolina Regiment of the Continental Army from 1778 to 1779. Later a local justice of the peace, Powell presided over the freeholders court, which heard cases involving enslaved people. Tiner died in Johnston in 1818.
