Dinah was an African American woman residing in Onslow County who was enslaved by Josiah Holt. In 1779 Dinah testified before the local freeholders' court regarding Isaac, an enslaved man accused of stealing a gun. Dinah may be the same individual who was named on a 1815 estate inventory of Josiah Holt. Although Holt had died in about 1784, his enslaved people were held in trust until all of Holt's children reached the age of majority. If it was the same person, Dinah was then enslaved by Elizabeth Holt. Any further records regarding this individual have not been located.
