Ailce Williams was a free woman of color residing in Craven County, North Carolina. Sometime prior to 1767 when Williams was twenty-three, she submitted a petition to the Craven County Court contesting her indenture to Peter Conway. As Williams argued, she never received a formal agreement regarding the indenture, and therefore ought to be considered free. The outcome of her petition, as well as any other details regarding Williams, have not been located.
