Richard Bayner was born in North Carolina in about 1728. A resident of Beaufort County, North Carolina, in 1775 Bayner sent news of the discovery of an intended plot amongst the enslaved African Americans in the area to rebel and kill their white enslavers. Bayner died in Beaufort in about 1795.
